On 5th of October, the Welcome Day for the new CompEng students of the winter semester 2023/2024 took place.

In the morning, we started with an official welcome event via Zoom, as there are still difficulties for some students to get their visas issued in time or to get a place in a hall of residence.

The course director Prof. Dr. Klaus Hackl started with welcoming words to the new students, followed by Dipl.-Ing. Jörg Sahlmen, the general coordinator of the programme, giving a presentation and providing the geographic location of Bochum, the industrial and cultural history of the Ruhr area, and some facts about the Ruhr-University Bochum. Nurgul Guliyeva, the president of the compeng student council, welcomed the new students and introduced the student council and upcoming events.

After all the new information, there was a relaxed get-together. Thanks to the good weather, the CompEng support team invited everyone to enjoy snacks and drinks in front of the lecture hall HIB. The new students had the opportunity to get to know each other, senior students, the support team as well as their professors and lecturers.
