On Friday, the 3rd December 2021, this year’s official graduation ceremony of the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering took place. Graduates from Computational Engineering, Structural Engineering and Infrastructure and Environment celebrated the successful completion of their studies. Furthermore, particularly outstanding degrees and achievements from graduates were awarded.
In September, our Tutor Talks returned for a second round - What last year was a means to an end, this year was a great opportunity to see, get to know and answer questions from our students from this year's batch before the semester even started!
CompEng has a new student council!
Just before the start of the winter semester, the student council held its second online plenary meeting. The old student council was released and presented their work as well as introduced the tasks of the student council. The prospect candidates introduced themselves with a short campaign speech and the election took place. After counting the votes, the new student council was set.
The Vietnamese German University (VGU), where a sister course has been established since 2009, recently published the first Computational Engineering Bulletin.
The Bulletin "is intended as a forum to exchange research ideas and results in the field of Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) –the nexus of computation, science, and engineering–with the aim of fostering future collaborations".
Vijaya Holla, CompEng Student since winter semester 2018/19 and currently working as a student assistant at the Institute for Structural Mechanics at RUB, recently published a peer-reviewed journal paper.
On Wednesday, 30th of June, the first 'CompEng Career Chat' took place via Zoom. Our three CompEng graduates M.Sc. Fatemeh Hessam Mohseni, M.Sc. Deepanshu Kapoor, and M.Sc. Eleni Kikidi gave short talks about their their everyday professional lives.

We are happy to announce that from the summer semester 2021 Prof. Dr. Patrick Henning will be joining the CompEng lecturer team. This semester he is teaching the compulsory optional course ‘Computational Fluid Dynamics’.
In January the CompEng student council started the contest „Your Favourite Formula “on Instagram. They asked for students favourite CompEng equation along with a short explanation, what they liked about it.
On Saturday, the 23rd of January 2021 the student council of CompEng started their event series "How to Master Thesis".
