The RUB winter break takes place from 21 December 2023 - 5 January 2024 (both days included). There are no lectures or exercises during this time period.

With the election of the new student council, we would like to take this opportunity to thank the previous Student Council for their valuable work.
On the 22nd of November, the CompEng and SubSurf students were invited by the CompEng/SubSurf support team to a bowling evening in Bochum. On six different lanes the 33 students, and a part of the CompEng/SubSurf team, were able to test their bowling skills and give their best at throwing strikes.

At the beginning of the winter semester, the CompEng students traditionally elect their new representatives. During a plenary meeting the old student council was released and presented their work as well as introduced the tasks of the student council. The prospect candidates introduced themselves and the election took place. After counting the votes, the new student council was set!
On 5th of October, the Welcome Day for the new CompEng students of the winter semester 2023/2024 took place.
Continuing the tradition of almost 10 years, this summer four Vietnamese students visited the Ruhr-University Bochum for a four months’ stay to write their master’s thesis.
Last Weekend, from June 9th to June 11th, CompEng went on a fun trip to Berlin and for everybody interested in the group’s wonderful experience, here is how it went!

On Tuesday, 9th of May, the CompEng Coordination Office invited five CompEng graduates to give first-hand and practice-oriented accounts of their everyday life as PhD students. The event contained of a series of talks in which the graduates provided essential information about their work experience and career path. Afterwards, the CompEng students had the opportunity to ask questions.

The event contains of a series of talks in which five CompEng graduates give first-hand and practice-oriented accounts of their everyday life as a PhD candidate.
After the annual CompEng trip had to be cancelled in recent years, we are pleased to announce that we're going to Berlin from 9 - 11 June 2023. Interested students can register until 3 May 2023.
